Today QR Code Free Forever stores no tracking or advertising cookies in your browser. We keep only a few preferences in the browser itself, and our visit count works without cookies. This page lists each item, what it is for, how long it lasts and how to delete it.
- No advertising or tracking cookies are used today.
- Preferences, such as the emojis you used most recently, stay only in your browser and you can delete them whenever you want.
- Visit measurement uses no cookies, stores no IP address and identifies no one.
- If the site starts showing Google ads, you will choose beforehand whether to accept personalized ad cookies.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
A cookie is a small file that a site saves in your browser to remember something from one page to the next. There are similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage (localStorage), which keeps information on your device without sending it to the server on every visit. Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) treats both the same way in its guidance on cookies, and so do we.
What does the site store in your browser?
| First name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| qr-emojis-recentes | Local storage | Showing first, in the WhatsApp emoji picker, the emojis you used most recently | Until you clear the site's data |
| qr-paginas and qr-ultimo-recado | Local storage | Counting how many pages you have viewed in this browser, so that house notices appear at most once every five pages | Until you clear the site's data |
| qr-post | Session storage | Remembering the last blog post read in this tab, to know whether it helped someone create a QR code (without identifying anyone) | Disappears when the tab is closed |
| qr-nao-contar | Local storage | Only in the browser of whoever runs the site: keeps their own visits out of the count | Until unchecked or deleted |
| qr_conta | Necessary cookie | Keeping you signed in to the free account (it carries only a random code) | 90 days, or until you sign out or delete the account |
| qr_admin | Necessary cookie | Only for whoever runs the site: keeping the dashboard login active after the password | 30 days |
None of these items is used for advertising or sent to other companies. They are necessary for the site to work the way you expect, or they keep preferences that you created yourself.
What about signing in with Google?
When you click “Sign in with Google,” the sign-in window belongs to Google itself, which may use its own cookies (from Google's domain) under Google's privacy policy. We receive only the name, email and account code, as explained in the privacy policy.
What about Cloudflare cookies?
The site runs on Cloudflare, which protects the pages against attacks and bots. When it needs to check that a visit comes from a person, Cloudflare may set technical security cookies, such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance. They are strictly necessary, short-lived, and not used for advertising.
How does visit measurement work without cookies?
When you open a page or click Generate, download, or a blog post, the site records the event (the page, the type of device, the country and the site you came from) without cookies and without storing your IP address. The only thing that stays in the browser is the qr-post item from the table above, which lasts only while the tab is open. That is why there is no way to know who made the visit or to combine your visits into a profile. More details in the privacy policy.
Other companies' services that the site uses
To build the pages, your browser fetches fonts from Google Fonts and some libraries and images from the cdnjs and jsDelivr services. In the App Store QR Code tool, the browser asks Apple to check the app's name. These services receive the technical data of the connection, as with any website, and the site does not ask them to set cookies.
What if the site starts showing Google ads?
The ad spaces currently show only notices from the site itself. If we start showing Google AdSense ads, Google and its partners may use cookies (such as the ones called IDE, __gads and __gpi) to show ads, limit how many times you see the same ad and fight fraud. Before that happens:
- a notice will appear on the site for you to accept or decline personalized ads (based on your visits to this and other sites);
- if you decline, you will see only non-personalized ads;
- you will be able to change your choice at any time through a link in the footer;
- this page will be updated with the list of ad cookies.
You can also control Google ads at adssettings.google.com and read how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
How do I delete or block them?
You are in charge of your browser. You can delete this site's data or block cookies whenever you want:
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Cookies and other site data.
- Safari (iPhone): Settings, Apps, Safari, Advanced, Website Data.
- Safari (Mac): Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data.
- Firefox and Edge: Settings, Privacy, Cookies and site data.
If you delete the site's data, your recent emojis disappear and the count for house notices starts over. The generator keeps working normally.
